I am a creature of habit. When I find one thing I tend to stick to it, lately I’ve been trying to venture out. When I was younger, Like most girls I would watch my mum put on her makeup. So I adopted some of the products she used. Its not until lately, I’ve started to venture out.

For my face I’ll use Origins Check and Balance face wash. It’s the best thing ever, it lather’s up nicely and doesn’t dry up my skin. I also use  Origins Zero Oil Pore purifying toner with Saw Palmetto & Mint. I have combination skin, so I find this is the best. I use the St Ives Apricot scrub to exfoliate my skin once a week. I always wear face cream.  I use the Neutorgena oil free cream with spf 15. I think not enough black people use sunscreen and its so important. I get monthly facials. I discovered this Indian woman in Vancouver when I moved here. She has an old school approach to beauty. The first time she gave me a facial, I swore I would never go back, it hurt and I broke out like crazy, but two days later my skin looked so amazing and smooth. I go to her all the time now.

I use Palmer’s Cocoa Butter on my skin, I’ve done that since my first year of university. I simply refuse to switch. It smells like chocolate on my skin. In the winter I'll switch it up and use Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Body Oil  as well, straight out the shower.

My makeup routine is very simple. My makeup artist friend, Ameeka basically tailor made my makeup routine for me. I don’t venture out of it unless she tries something new on me. My foundation is Nars Sheer Glow Foundation and Nars Matte Foundation both in Trinidad. I'll set it with the MAC mineralize powder. I love lipsticks. I basically collect them. I swear by Make Up For Ever lipsticks. They are so amazing, and last for the whole day. When I’m not in the mood to wear lipstick. I’ll wear YSL Rouge Volupté Perle in Milky Pink. It’s amazing and very sheer and for dry lips I wear Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm! I don’t wear makeup to work, but I’ll wear some black gel eyeliner from MAC and the Lancome Oscillation Mascara. Ameeka my make-up girl introduced me to it, I should have shares in Lancome by now! I've been asked so may times If I'm wearing false lashes, that's how amazing it is.

My hair is natural and by natural I mean nappy. Its on the long side now, but it took me almost 2 years to get it to where it is. My hairdresser Uyi is heaven sent. She specializes in natural hair, shes also the only one I will let do my braids and weaves. No one else can touch my hair.  I use Khiel’s Superbly Smoothing Argan Shampoo to wash my hair once a week and I condition it with Suave Coconut conditioner. I moisturize it with virgin coconut oil and alternate with Shea butter. I deep condition my hair once a month with my own homemade concoction. Egg Yolk, Olive Oil and some Lavender oil.  I try and use all organic products. Since I’ve done that I’ve seen such a difference. My bathroom is filled with all these products I'm experimenting on, but this is kind of my everyday routine.
